How to use this

A few small habits make all the difference at PSLE Oral.

  • Ask one question per day — not all three.
  • Keep it casual: meals, car rides, or before bed.
  • Let your child speak for 30–60 seconds without interruption.
  • Focus on ideas and confidence, not perfect grammar.

The 4 magic prompts

After your child answers, always follow up with these. This is the key to turning short answers into strong PSLE responses.

  • Ask Why do you say that?
  • Ask Can you give an example?
  • Ask Then what happened?
  • Ask What would you do next time?

Why these four? They push your child past a one-line answer into the kind of reasoning, examples and reflection that PSLE examiners are looking for in a well-developed response, and help their responses come alive with a student's lived experiences.
